I have a few growers who’s fields span either side of the UTM13/14 boundary. Some are in 13 some are in 14… Is there a certain distance from the boundary where either zone will work? How do you recommend managing these farms in ADMS? Choose a UTM zone and stick with it? or manage the zones at the field level?

UTM Zones for ADMS Purposes are chosen by what the USDA has chosen for the NAIP images for that county. In ADMS, Click Setup-State and County Database.
You can then change the combo box to your state and see the UTM Zone Chosen for each county. There is a tiny bit of overlap in NAIP imagery, but usually no more than a mile.

replied 5 months ago So, essentially if a field boundary lies within the NAIP of the neighboring county/ UTM Zone then you can set ADMS to that neighboring UTM Zone. In this case the field and ADMS are not in the same UTM Zone, but you will have no projection issues?

Just set to the UTM zone of the County the field is in. Math doesn’t start falling apart until you are a whole zone off.

replied 5 months ago okay, will manage these farms field by field even though they are within a mile of the county line. Appreciate the clarification, now i have a rule, which is helpful.
